Your Supervisor

Dorothy Larios

If it is important to you to know your supervisor then here is is a little of my Life's Journey and how I came to coaching.

Educated in Edinburgh and living in Athens, I came to coaching whilst I was a young mother running a charity for special needs kids in Athens. Indeed,my people skills were developed in those years.Experience in nursing and management allowed me to establish an organisation which served over 20 different nationalities.Care -Hellas supported parents and their special needs children. I had realised that training as a Coach or Facilitator would offer me useful tools and interventions as I facilitated parent groups.
In the late 1990's Dr Antony Grant from University Sydney, supplied the coaching materials via a very good friend of mine and I read and applied these skills to the support groups that I was running at the time.

I returned to the UK in 2000 as my children had grown, my husband moved on and I had the wonderful opportunity to re-train. As coaching training became available, my coaching journey began. Faced by some hurdles, I have created my tapestry over the years which is interwoven with the rest of my life. Who I am today and what I wish to offer back to the coaching community is quite simply, my experience.

As a trained Coaching Supervisor and Assessor with the Association for Coaching, I am passionate about supporting all coaches as they develop and progress in this profession.
We coaches bring ourselves to our work. Our life beliefs, values and experiences are there. How we learn and how we have developed as coaches is unique to us. In coaching as in life, there is the guidance from what is called Ethical Standards. Yes we signed up to them when we become fully fledged coaches. Our essence is governed by our own internal faith, spirituality or beliefs as how we stand in the world around us. We care, we have heart, soul and mind and we are be no means super humans.
